May Bank Hols weekend

Well I have had a fabulous May Bank Holiday weekend, the weather was kind to us, and although poor Rob was working - I managed to get out into the garden and clear some weeds, instead of a beautiful English Country garden - we were looking like one rose and a bed of weeds!!  But I cleared and tidied and yesterday when my son in law came round he said the garden looked lovely - I knew he was my favourite son in law (only one but hey ho!).

I managed to do some knitting and here is the project so far - this is my first time using a cable needle, so I am not too sure about how good it is but it is coming and I am pleased with my attempt anyway.

So I now want to get on and get some more completed - more piccies as I get on with it.

At the end of last week I decided to get my New York Beauty wadded up and here it is - I absolutely adore this and now have to decide how to get it quilted.

Having got New York Beauty wadded up I decided to get my Hunters Star wadded and backed as well.
So now I have to make myself get quilting - it is just finding the time.  I am going to sit and look at designs and see where to go with both of these quilts.

Oh look who came to visit for his lunch yesterday - he is so cute and we had a great time - he enjoyed the quiche I had made and the cookies went down a treat.
We played out in the garden and he was having a lovely time his Uncle Mark joined us so I was very lucky to have them with me for lunch.

In between the gardening and I just had to get the vacuum cleaner out - our cat being long haired seems to leave white fur everywhere!!!  I did get some sewing done and at long last I got the top of  a foundation pieced quilt together - so once it is wadded I shall post some pictures.

Well I have finished Caroline's wool bag and she loved the colours and she is very pleased with the bag - so hopefully it is now full of wool !  I love the bright batiks and this is such a great size bag.
One of our ladies came into the shop and bought in some baby quilts she had knitted for the premature baby unit - I was so impressed that I chose some wool from our baby King Cole double knitting and made this one - it is soo soft and I really enjoyed sitting knitting.

So now that is finished I have started a new top for myself in the King Cole Bamboo Cotton - it is lovely and soft - I only cast on this morning before breakfast so shall just have to get knitting!!
Well my little Leo was one year old yesterday - where has the year gone to.  They had a lovely birthday party for him at the weekend and here are some photos of the most gorgeous one year old ever.  No bias there
He has learnt to clap and loves to clap at just about everything.  A very proud Daddy!!

Oh the magic of "In The Night Garden" - I am now a real fan of the programme - This is for the uninitiated "Iggle Piggle".  He absolutely adored cuddling it.
More clapping - what a happy little fellow - Mum encouraging him - Caroline has taken to being a Mum so well.  She has taught herself to crochet and loves cooking.  Time is very limited though being the Mum of a one year old!

Caroline and I had a wonderful Spa day on Monday together - we left Leo with Daddy and we headed to the www.ImagineSpa at the Orton Hall Hotel in Peterborough - it was lovely - we relaxed, sat in the Jaccuzi - had a swim, Sauna and steam room - a lovely lunch and then oh the highlight of the day was an Asian Massage - warm oil poured over you and then a hot stone rubbed over then a deep massage and finally a very hot towel laid on you.  Oh gorgeous - I was forced to sleep I was soo relaxed.

I now have to think about my next projects and to be fair I think I would like to try and finish some more of the unfinished projects in my sewing room.   I have got lots of quilt tops waiting to be wadded and quilted.  I thoroughly enjoyed quilting the last quilt I just finished so I think that is my aim to get some pieces finished.

I am busy quilting my Cake Swap at present and thoroughly enjoying myself - I have put a flower in the centre of each of the squares and they do look good - then when you turn it over it looks excellent.
In the borders I have cut the flower in half and put them all around the edges.

Look at this cheeky little lad, he has just had his first hair cut - he looks so grown up all of a sudden.  His first birthday is in a week's time and we are having a birthday party for him on Saturday.  Oh what fun.
He really loves our fish pond in the garden - suffice to say he got rather wet!!  The fish disappeared to the bottom pretty quick.

A fun week

Well it has been exciting at Art and Stitch this week we have started to stock wool - oh that is the rest of my salary now spent!!  I adore knitting and haven't done much since the children were smaller - and of course now I have Leo and the three girls so perhaps I should start again!!!  Though the wools are fabulous and there are such great patterns so perhaps something for me!!!
My Caroline has been teaching herself to crochet so she will be pleased with the wool too.  She asked for a bag to keep all her wool and bits in - so I am making her a drawingstring bag to keep down by the settee - out of Leo's way.
Here is the almost finished bag - just need to get the cord in over the weekend and then she can have it.  I just adore batiks they always look so bright.  - I showed her yesterday and she was pleased with the colour.  Caroline adores bright colours.
Well from an extremely unbiased Nanny - look at this great little chap - he loves toddling around he is so cute - he will soon be into absolutely everything.

In the background of this picture you can see Barbara and Sam busy pricing up our wool.

Well hope you all have a great weekend

A productive week and a clever Hubby

Well my clever hubby has been busy in his workshop - the walnut box above has been made for us for our dresser in the dining room - we have a gap since Caroline and Nic claimed their antique musical box for their new dresser!!
This lovely oak has been made for Barbara to give to her brother as a present - they smelt gorgeous and were so tactile you didn't want to put them down.

So he is now starting on another beautiful box and some money boxes then a toy box for Leo - so he should be kept pretty busy for a while!!

Leo came to the shop yesterday to help us with some merchandising !!  He is fascinated by all the stands and the lovely things to look at.
Well I am not sure how long ago I told you about my hexagon - but it is nearly finished - slow but sure!!
This is it in its entirety
These are the final few to stitch now

Then it will need joining together - and then I have to choose the background to place it on
So I am pleased with this and cannot wait to get it completely finished.  Then I can start one of the new projects buzzing in my head - just not enough time to get them all done.
